Researcher
Brief
Silvia Ruiz España, Ph.D., has a background in data analysis and medical image processing. She got
her Ph.D. at the Universitat Politècnica de València in 2016. She also has a master’s degree in Data
Science from the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya and a degree in Telecommunications Engineering
from the Universitat Politècnica de València.
Throughout her research experience, se has worked mainly in the field of medical imaging,
collaborating on projects related to the diagnosis and prognosis of brain tumors, the identification of
brain networks affected by alcohol consumption or the development of diagnostic methods to
classify and quantify pathologies in the spine, among others. In all of them applying different
imaging techniques and/or artificial intelligence algorithms.
She has published 4 articles in indexed scientific journals, 1 book chapter and 20 publications in
international conferences (9 indexed proceedings and 11 abstracts). The most relevant publications
are focused on texture analysis combined with machine learning techniques applied to medical
imaging.
Since January 2022 she is working at the Instituto Tecnológico de Informática (ITI), in the PRAIA
(Perception, Recognition, and Artificial Intelligence Algorithms) research group. Currently, she
collaborates in tasks related to anomaly detection, developing algorithms based on artificial
intelligence.
