Técnicas de preproceso de datos, incluyendo normalizaciones, tipificaciones, gestión de valores ausentes, gestión de valores anómalos, supervisión imperfecta, extracción de componentes principales y de componentes independientes, etc.
Técnicas de extracción de características tradicionales basadas en el conocimiento a priori, incluyendo espacios de representación para modelos geométricos, estadísticos o basados en la teoría de la decisión, espacios métricos y pseudo-métricos, y codificaciones orientadas a modelos sintácticos y estructurales.
